GPC bug involving rewrite?

This looks like gpc-2.0, corresponding to gcc-2.7.2.x.
Since those days, the GPC RTS has been practically re-written.
Upgrading to gpc-19980830 (corresponding to gcc-2.8.x or EGCS)
will solve your problem.  Please get it from

    ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/gnu-pascal/beta/ .

This release is denoted "beta" because it is constantly being
worked on.  In fact it is much more stable than gpc-2.0.

The next beta release will appear _really soon now_[tm], so it
makes sense to watch the address above and/or the GPC mailing
